Math and Computing Contests

Beaver Computing Challenge (Grade 5 to 10)

The Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC) is an online, multiple-choice contest that introduces students to computer science and aims to create excitement about computing among those with little or no previous experience.

Thales Contest (Grade 3)

Date: April 9th, 2025

The Thales Contest introduces Grade 3 students to the world of math contests in a fun and approachable way. Focused on building foundational problem-solving skills, it encourages young students to think critically and creatively. Through this contest, students gain confidence and a sense of accomplishment in tackling challenging math concepts.

Byron-Germain Contest (Grade 4)

Date: April 9th, 2025

Designed for Grade 4 students, the Byron-Germain Contest dives into slightly more complex math concepts, helping students develop analytical and logical skills. This contest is a fantastic introduction to competitive math, emphasizing clear thinking and patience. Students enjoy applying what they’ve learned in school to real-world problems in a fun, friendly setting.

Fibonacci Contest (Grade 5)

Date: April 9th, 2025

The Fibonacci Contest provides Grade 5 students with an exciting opportunity to explore math through unique and challenging problems. Named after the famous mathematician, this contest helps students improve their skills in number sense, logic, and spatial reasoning. It’s ideal for fostering a deep interest in mathematics and helping students learn to approach problems from multiple perspectives.

Pythagoras Contest (Grade 6)

Date: April 9th, 2025

The Pythagoras Contest is designed for Grade 6 students ready to dive into advanced problem-solving. Covering concepts like geometry, fractions, and basic algebra, this contest builds on school curriculum topics, encouraging students to apply their knowledge in new ways. It’s an excellent preparation for future math contests and a way for students to further develop confidence and persistence in math.

Gauss (Grades 7 and 8)

Date: May 14, 2025

The Gauss Contests offer an exciting introduction to mathematics competitions for students in Grades 7 and 8. They offer unique and interesting problems in a multiple-choice format that encourages curiosity and nurtures an interest in the power of math.

Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Contests (Grades 9 to 11)

Date: February 26th, 2025

The Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat Contests (PCF) provide students with an engaging platform of multiple-choice questions to showcase their math skills while exploring mathematical problem-solving and developing their critical thinking abilities.

Euclid  (Grade 12)

Date: April 2nd, 2025

The Euclid Contest presents a unique challenge to senior-level secondary school students using innovative problems that draw upon their accumulated knowledge in mathematics, fostering creativity and effective communication. Using a mix of short-answer and full-solution questions, including some of the most complex and challenging problems among all our contests, the Euclid Contest helps build participants' perseverance in mathematical problem-solving.
